The gap it closes
The app leading this category is Before And After Slider, 2.1★ over 162 reviews, and its free plan is two sliders with a “featured by” banner across them. Six reviews carrying forty-one votes are the same sentence: “The app seems to work great! However, it cost $2.50 a month! That’s $30 every single year just to have sliders” (11 votes), “It’s crazy to think that they charge almost $3 for a slider app” (7), “This app is just what I need but the price per month for more than 2 slides is crazy” (6), “I can get these add-ons for free on other web builder platforms” (5). One more, from 2021: “There is no way to get rid of the large, ugly watermark without paying a monthly subscription fee.”
Six of the eight apps here with a real review count charge to stop printing their own name on your website. The 4.7★ rival’s free plan lists exactly one feature and it is the word “Watermark”; $4.85 a month buys “No Watermark”, “Custom Arrow Sliders” and “Custom Layout Shapes”. A 5★ app gives twenty features away free and still watermarks. Two more have no free plan at all, at $7.50 and $9.69 a month. And the fifth-biggest, at 4.1★ over 59 reviews, carries “Description say free but when you install you have to pay”, “Free to install - NOT” and “Scam — It is not free”.
Then there is what happens after you have paid. Since August 2025 the incumbent has eighteen reviews saying it stopped working on live customer sites — “The slider is temporarily unavailable. Please try again shortly. Reference 880b2ecda8104872a51e608ddad81f23”, “App not loading… for at least 6 hours now”, “keep crashin” (11 September 2026), “It worked for a few days, then it magically broke”. The 4.7★ rival has its own: “Slider nor the images are loading on the website. I have already purchased the yearly subscription.” and “keeps reverting to their demo photos”. Four more are people who could not upload a photograph at all. Every one of those is somebody’s pictures sitting on a third party’s server and not coming back.

Point it at two pictures you already have
Choose the before and the after from your own Wix Media Manager. Give each one a word of your own — “Before” and “After”, or “2019” and “Today”, in any language — and alt text, so a screen reader and a search engine can read it too. Add a name, a caption, a category and a description. There is no limit to how many you add, on any plan, and nothing is ever uploaded to us.

Drop it on any page, as many times as you like
Drag the element onto a page and pick which comparison it shows. Put it on ten pages if you want to; placements are free and unlimited. The divider can run side to side or top to bottom, the pictures can be a panorama, landscape, square, portrait, tall or their own shape, and every handle, arrow, divider thickness, colour, border and corner is yours — all of it on the free plan.

A visitor drags, taps or uses the arrow keys
It sweeps itself once when it comes into view, so somebody who has never seen one understands in a second. Then they drag it with a finger or a mouse, or focus the handle and use the arrow keys. Tap the corner and it goes full screen, fitting the height so the whole picture is there on a phone. It runs in Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor and Wix Harmony.

Side by side or top and bottom, six picture shapes, five handles, arrows on or off, divider thickness and colour, corner rounding, a border, text size, and where the divider starts. The 4.7★ rival charges $4.85 a month for choosing an arrow and a corner shape; the most-voted review on another is “cannot change Aspect Ratio !!” and on a third it is “no customization — cant even round the edges. looks ugly”.

It never receives an upload and never stores a picture
A comparison points at files already in your own Wix Media Manager. That is why it cannot fail the way this shelf fails: four reviews on the incumbent are people who could not get a photograph in at all, and two apps here have reviews saying they show the vendor’s own demo photographs on the customer’s live site.

One request, and then nothing
A placement asks your own site for its comparison once. After that, dragging, sweeping, going full screen, filtering a gallery and opening a panel all happen in the visitor’s browser with nothing asked of anybody. Measured on a published page: exactly one call. Eighteen reviews on the app next door are the alternative.

The two halves always line up
The box decides the shape and both pictures are cropped into it identically — nothing is resized or offset, only clipped. Two photographs taken a year apart are rarely the same proportions, and “the before changes and the after doesn’t” is a real review on the app this one replaces. Transparent PNGs stay transparent, too: there is no canvas anywhere in it.

It never steals the page’s scroll
A side-to-side divider leaves vertical panning to the browser, so a thumb scrolling down a phone page over the picture scrolls the page. A top-to-bottom one gives up horizontal panning instead. It is a small thing that has sunk widgets in this family before.

Nothing is stored about a visitor
No cookie, no local storage, no identifier. The only row a visitor’s action can ever write is one saying a comparison was opened — and only when you switch counting on, and only when somebody deliberately opens or expands one. Never a page view.

What is stored, and where
- Your comparisons — the addresses of your pictures, the words around them, the categories, the design and the wording — are stored in collections inside your own site.
- The pictures themselves are never copied. They stay in your own Wix Media Manager and are served from there.
- Nothing about a visitor is stored. The only row a visitor can cause is one saying that a comparison was opened, written only when you have switched counting on, and holding no name, address or identifier of any kind.
- Nothing is written to a visitor’s browser: no cookie, no local storage.
- Uninstalling removes the app’s collections. Your pictures are not touched.

How many comparisons do I get for free?
As many as you like, on as many pages as you like. There is no cap on the free plan at all. The app leading this category gives you two and charges $4.15 a month for the third — which is what forty-one votes across six of its reviews are complaining about.

Where are my pictures stored?
In your own Wix Media Manager, where they already are. This app keeps the address of a picture and never a copy, so there is no storage allowance to run out of and nothing of ours in the way once the page has loaded. Uninstalling leaves every picture exactly where it was.
Can the divider go up and down instead?
Yes, and it is free. A top-to-bottom divider is often the right one for a kitchen, a roof or a floor. Both directions keep the page scrolling normally — a side-to-side divider never steals a phone’s vertical scroll.
Can I compare three pictures?
Yes, on Pro: three pictures and two dividers, with each word sitting over the picture it names and moving as the dividers move. It is how you show a garden in 2021, 2023 and today in one place.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The layout is read from the element’s own width rather than from a screen-width guess, so it works inside Wix’s 980-pixel phone viewport where an ordinary media query never fires. Measured on a published page at 390 pixels: no horizontal scrolling anywhere, and full screen fills the screen — which is a named complaint on the app this one replaces.
Does it work on Wix Studio?
Yes. It is a custom element, so it runs on Wix Studio, the classic Wix Editor and Wix Harmony — the same app, the same settings panel. It was placed, dragged and published on a real Wix Studio site and on a published classic Wix site before this listing was written.
