The protection app most Wix sites reach for sits at 3.3★ across 428 reviews, and its most-voted review by a distance — 40 votes — is “CAUTION: Does NOT work on mobile devices!!”: “I checked my phone and I can download anything on my site, at the full 1550px resolution!! … Mobile devices account for more than half of total website visits.” Next come “Useless — this works only on the opening page of the website” (8 votes), “Would be 5/5 if it supported Ctrl+C copying” (8) and “How do we uninstall the app?” (11). At least eight separate reviews say it simply stops working after a while.
Content Protection is a switch, not an element you place. It covers every page of your site because it is part of the site rather than a widget on one page, it goes on before the page has finished loading rather than a second or two after, and on a phone it stops the long press that saves a picture — free, because more than half of most sites’ visitors are on one.
It also stays out of your visitors’ way. Nothing is ever blocked inside a text box, a form field, or anything you put on your allow-list, so a visitor can always paste an email address into your contact form and your phone number can stay copyable on purpose — two rival apps have one-star reviews for getting exactly this wrong.

No switch, on any plan, fires inside an input, a textarea or anything editable. Pasting is never blocked at all.

No cookie, no identifier, nothing written to their device. The Pro counts are daily totals per kind, with no visitor and no page in the data.

Switch protection off and the script is removed from your site rather than sitting there disabled. Uninstalling takes it off everywhere.

What is stored, and where
- Your settings, page rules and allow-list are stored in a collection inside your own site.
- Nothing is stored in a visitor’s browser and no cookie is set, so the app needs no consent prompt of its own. On Pro, blocked attempts are counted as daily totals per kind — no visitor, no address, no page.
- Nothing is copied to any server of ours; the app runs on Wix’s infrastructure. Uninstalling removes the app’s collections and its script.

Questions people ask.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on the free plan. On a phone there is no right click — a picture is saved with a long press, and that is what is blocked. It was measured on a published page in the 980-pixel window Wix uses for its mobile layout.
Does it stop screenshots?
No, and nothing on a web page can. It deters the casual save, right-click and copy, which is what almost everybody tries.
Will it break my contact form?
No. Nothing is blocked inside a text box or a form field on any plan, and pasting is never blocked anywhere.
Do I have to republish after changing a setting?
Only when you switch protection itself on or off, because Wix writes that into your site when you publish. Everything else — what to block, the message, your page rules — takes effect on the next page load.
