The gap it closes
The timeline app most sites reach for sits at 1.6★ across 138 reviews, and the reviews are remarkably specific: “Cant use a date before 2014”, “won’t let me remove the year”, “you have to put in a full date or it puts in the current date”, “change the order ‘oldest to newest’ but it does not change anything”, and — four separate times — “when the mouse is above the timeline, it is impossible to scroll the page”.
Timeline & Milestones is that list inverted. An event can be dated with a year on its own, a month, a full date, a span of years, or your own words instead of a date. Nothing is refused for being too far back — 1066 and 500 BC sort correctly against 2026 — and nothing is ever quietly replaced with today’s date.
The order is yours: oldest first, newest first, or exactly the order you set, and it stays that way. Every colour, size, card style, marker and layout is free on every plan, along with a picture and a link on every event.

Write the events
A title, a few lines, and a date in whatever shape you actually know it — a year, a month, a full date, a span, or “Coming soon”. Add a picture and a link if you want them.

Put it on a page
Add the Timeline element from the editor, pick which timeline it shows, and set the heading, the accent colour and where the cards sit.

Keep a copy
Export a CSV of everything you have written, on any plan. On Pro you can import one too.
How it behaves

Your dates are never overwritten
A half-typed or unusual date stays as you left it. The app never substitutes today’s date for one it cannot parse — that single behaviour is the most repeated complaint about the app this replaces.

It never steals the page scroll
The across-the-page layout is an ordinary horizontal scroller with no wheel handler at all, so a vertical scroll or swipe over it moves the page, exactly as a visitor expects.

It reads on a phone
Wix renders a phone page in a 980-pixel viewport, so a CSS “mobile” rule never fires there. This app detects the layout from the document instead, stacks the cards to one side and keeps the text at a readable size.

Nothing is stored about visitors
A timeline is content. The app sets no cookie, writes nothing to a visitor’s browser and records nothing about who read it.

Video loads only when it is pressed
A video on an event shows your own picture until a visitor presses play. Nothing is requested from YouTube or Vimeo before that, and YouTube is used through its no-cookie host.

Installing & getting started
- Add Timeline & Milestones to your Wix site from the App Market and approve the permissions listed below.
- Open it from your site dashboard under Apps. It adds the Timeline element (editor widget, any page) / Dashboard page.
- Follow the three steps above. The free tier covers one timeline of up to 15 events, every date shape, every colour, size and layout, a picture and a link on every event, and a CSV of everything on it, so you can prove it works before paying.

Permissions, and why each one
SCOPE.DEV_CENTER.APP-INSTANCE-READ-BASIC-INFO- Read which plan the site is on, so the Pro features unlock. Nothing else is requested.
What is stored, and where
- Your timelines and events are stored in collections inside your own site, so moving the element to another page — or removing it and adding it again — never loses a word of what you wrote.
- The app collects nothing from visitors, sets no cookies and stores nothing in their browsers.
- Nothing is copied to any server of ours; the app runs on Wix’s infrastructure. Uninstalling removes the app’s collections.

Questions people ask.
Can I use a date before 2014? Or before year one?
Yes. Any year from 9999 BC to 9999 AD, and BC years sort correctly against AD ones. You can also write “BCE” instead of “BC” if you prefer.
What if I do not know the exact date?
Use a year on its own, a month and a year, or your own words — “Coming soon”, “The beginning”, “Ancient Rome”. Events dated with words keep the order you set them in and are listed after the dated ones.
Does the horizontal timeline break scrolling on my page?
No. It is an ordinary horizontal scroller with no wheel handler, so scrolling down over it scrolls the page. It also has Previous and Next buttons and answers the arrow keys.
Can events have pictures?
Yes, on every plan. Choose one from your site’s media or paste an address, add a description for screen readers, and choose whether clicking it opens it full size.
Can I show more than one timeline?
On Pro, as many as you like — a different one on every page. The free plan runs one, and nothing you have written is ever deleted if you move back to it.
